Creative, Intuitive, Positive-Minded Product Designer
Hi, friends!
I am a rural-outskirts-of-Philadelphia-based product designer. I first entered IT as a business analyst, and the skills I acquired with that role over the following decade prepared me to become the designer I am today. You will find me asking the question, "What is the problem we are trying to solve?" quite a lot. It's a BA's favorite question, but it's also pertinent to the design process!
I possess a rare combination of right-brain and left-brain strengths, valuing creativity and intuition, and logic and analysis.
As a designer, I love tapping into my love of psychology and the human mind to incorporate a user's experience with software into my work. I welcome the challenge of trying to solve a user's problems, from too many clicks to get to something, to needing a whole new feature to make their jobs easier. I also get unnaturally excited about any chance I may have to create an Excel spreadsheet (ask me about my budget spreadsheets!), and enjoy diving into data and statistics. I have found that part of my design process harkens back to my BA roots - I can produce more complete designs if I start to write requirements for those designs as well; this process just helps me look at the project from a different perspective.
I am passionate about being creative, every day of my life.
I thoroughly enjoy the work I do, which has fulfilled me creatively in so many ways. Outside of work, I'm in my creative element in my garden, kitchen, and behind my camera. When I was a kid, my dream job was to be a farmer and an artist. I feel lucky to say that I believe I am living that dream, just in a much more modern fashion.
I believe in respect, empathy, compassion, diversity, and being kind.
I value these principles immensely, and look for opportunities that share that ideology. Everyone deserves to be treated respectfully; have their thoughts or ideas heard; be spoken to kindly; and have their experiences valued and acknowledged.
"We rise by lifting others." -Robert Ingersoll
